I love this Alicia, for two reasons. firstly, your insight into the fact that when we recognise love is God and God is love it is so much easier to talk about, and listen to, the difficult but very real human experiences that we share.
secondly, because I've been reflecting on where is God in situations like the Israeli genocide of Palestine... and the answer I keep coming back to is, god is not in the loud proclamations or righteousness in the name of Yaweh or Allah or any other God. God is real and made real in the acts of love like: the doctors from across the globe continuing to risk their lives to save Palestinian life, the people who drive aid through checkpoint at risk of their lives to save others lives, the communities and families who pause so often to help others mourn well-farewelling the many dead with honor. that's where God is-in the human moments of love. it's just that God is overshadowed so often by human evil
Tim, I love your reflections. I am a panentheist through and through - it is one of those fancy words that actually connects...the first time I heard it in theology class, my whole self, cells to soul went, "Yes, that's it, that's it! Why has no one told me this before!" It was kind of the theological equivalent of when I learned about the doctrine of Christian discovery and how it's shaped indigenous policy from the 15th century up til current times. You may know by now I love Kaia Ra - her views on the innocence that survives every atrocity speak to me. I have wrestled a lot with the questions you are wrestling with and I have no easy answer, but I still know that love is the substrate, love is our original self, love is the end, love is all there is, even when it's twisted into an evil knot. Untwist the 8. It is a zero. A zero, if you look at it, is a circle, it's whole, it's one, yet empty. If Christ emptied himself to become an 8. Maybe if we empty ourselves we'll become one with Love. <3
Another beautiful poem with such an important message. To love thy neighbour as thyself is one of the hardest lessons we have come here to learn. For this reason, it is the greatest gift we can give to each other and other sentient souls. Thank you for sharing, Alicia, sending much love to you.
