This is really great food for thought, about interconnectedness and honoring everyone's unique strengths and weaknesses. I totally agree with your feeling that we would be better off with a mix of such strengths.

But I thought of one reason to sort ourselves into houses (in the context of who we primarily hang out with and live with in our free time) and that's neurodiversity. We all find much greater acceptance and belonging in the presence of people who have similar fundamental traits as us, which is largely defined by our neurotype.

Modern medicine still doesn't understand neurology and neurodivergence very well, and people don't generally think in those terms (yet). But I find it extremely helpful - moreso than other personality typologies - in understanding who we are compatible with and why.

Anyone who is neurodivergent can attest to just how much more of a sense of belonging and acceptance and freedom to be ourselves we experience in the presence of other neurodivergent people. So I could imagine the Hogwarts houses as different neurotypes, with Ravenclaw as the autistic/ADHD camp and the other houses as the different variations of what we consider neurotypical (with Slitherin being those who tend toward the cluster B personality disorders, which I feel is a distinct neurotype, with the actual disorders resulting from trauma combined with one's innate predilictions).

Each neurotype has it's own strengths so this would be siloing those strengths somewhat, but it might be worth it in order to create a greater sense of belonging and understanding and authenticity among those who we spend the most time with, such as in our various dorm rooms.
