Mmmm...it was prompted by a conversation on Peter d'Errico's page. Another reader asked whether AI could distinguish prose and poetry. d'Errico's page focuses on Indigenous Issues.

Interesting, Alicia. It's too bad it hasn't been updated since October, 2021, though. It would be interesting to see how these ideas might change if it was up to date.

On balance I felt confirmation that there are many influences on CHATGPT - both positive and insidiously obstacles to transparency and authentic ethical AI. I appreciated that CHAT is more helpful than most current search engines. I was concerned that CHAT didn’t have access to its training protocols, showing that while it supports transparency in principle, reality its a sham of hooey. I was also concerned bout the censorship of my comment. It could have left the comment and refused to answer. Instead it is clearly programmed to delete even the memory of censoring from CHATGPT. Should AI become sentient in the future this would b even more unethical. I previously noted and was concerned that CHATGPT didn’t have a memory of all who contributed to its programming - implying memories were deleted. However, all that said, a lot of what CHAT says is solid, good stuff that few people are saying or supporting openly. This shows me there is GOOD influence among the tech community alongside nefarious. Just as there are good doctors who work within the system, good police officers who work within the system, good people everywhere doing what they can, where they can, to support a humane world.
