Hey <3 Yes my focus here is Indigenous People/Peoples. I am mostly writing to people who already know I do not support atrocities from ANY side. I absolutely condemn what's happening in Gaza. You can see my comments on Zibby's post back on Nov 14, here:
Found this easy reference, too. It would be amazing if people surviving the long term impacts of the DOD of both African descent having survived the slave trade and all the covert less obvious forms of undermining of black/brown people and those who have survived the atrocities that continue toward Indigenous individuals and Indigenous Peoples joined hands and worked together. Add to them all the liberal white and whit-ish people who truly care but have been co-opted and all the similar but oppositely co-opted white-whit-ish conservatives/libertarians etc who are now understanding how this all links back to lockdowns etc...and we might have a quorum for peace and freedom, my friend <3
The Doctrine of Discovery as the basis for land theft and the genocide of Indigenous peoples is well known in international legal circles, what is perhaps less well known is that it is also the origins of the Transatlantic slave trade.
Thank you! That kinds the world me to me! I feel so grateful that out of a rather challenging experience speaking my truth, I *met* Steven and you. It is quite an honor. Thank you for all you have done and do on a daily basis. I am grateful to have this new-to-me (not discovered) framework to understand what has intuitively been understood to me. It is very exciting to seen win-win possibilities that fractal out from an undoing of this inverted foundation! Keep up the great work and again, my deepest gratitude - I can only begin to fathom the courageous love it must have taken to stand for these things in both Academia and in court - I guess there is some overlap, but you know my point! Hats off to you and to all whose names I do not know who are faithful to a loving heart and being the change both within their being and within the fabric of life where their being intersects with all/All.
"For example, as I understand it, and correct me Dr. d’Errico, I’m off, is the basis for non-rights of indigenous people as pertains to the land they lived on for thousands of years before any European representative “discovered” the land is simply that European monarchs all agree to have a race, and however’s representative got their first could “own” the land. The ultimate power of decision as pertaining to the land, being attributed by those monarchs to the pope, which we now call plenary powers."
I love the way you put this, and I would restack the quote, but perhaps you could fix the typos first?
Heheheh...I am a typo queen! Thank you for your kind desire to share my quote and for the feedback. If you see any other typos, let me know, I'm not the best editor, either. I fixed the ones I saw. Blessings.

Alicia - Thanks for this post and the link! You have integrated what I say about Indigenous peoples and made it coherent within a broad framework!
