We have mice. We’ve set a no-kill trap or two, but our home has been around since Einstein wrote his letter in the New York Times denouncing the fascism of Israel, and it has lots of nooks and crannies. They find their way in through many entrances, not just one. I’ve heard them in the wiring, behind the piano, under the dishwasher…on and on.
The thing is, it took a while for our dogs to realize they are here. Our dogs are not cats, although they are more cat-like than most dogs. Our cat lives upstairs because interspecies communication has not yet become feasible, even with good intentions on both sides. Our cat has some health issues, due, we believe to having been poisoned a bad bag of cat food several years ago, shortly after which, our other cat developed weird sometimes and died. I am not trying to be depressing. She is very happy in her higher dimensional world. And her words from Beyond to my son, as relayed by him to me were, in addition, not to worry or feel bad about it, “My love for you stands forever.”
Back to the mice. I hear them at night rattling, scurrying, messing around with cardboard boxes if their are any. I finally ordered more mouse traps in hops of a warm enough day to let them out without feeling I was sending them to their death indirectly. But the traps were delayed in arriving. In the meantime, my dogs finally started to get curious at night, after the mice became bolder during the day. Whereas previously the mice stayed out of the way and out of sight/earshot by day, they began to get bold. Whether it was the probiotics they got into (microbiota are, apparently responsible for mouse timidity) or the opposite…sometimes in the environment killed their timidity-producing microbiota and left them feeling brave like Despereaux, they have started scampering about it broad daylight.
This allowed my dogs to discover that the rustling and scuttling at night could be worthy of investigating. And so, they have started mouse patrol, hopping out of the bad to race at the kitchen or the fireplace area where they also sneak in, or the area by the garage with the boxes. They have discovered an intruder who was here, but hadn’t been detected, even though to those who knew, it was. It’s not the dogs fault. Why should they be paranoid about a little creeky house noise at night? They shouldn’t. They had to see it in broad daylight, to realize the same thing might be going on at night, and need to be looked into. Same thing humans. You know what I’m talking about. Or you at least know what I’m alluding to in generalities.
The past night or two as soon as they heard the sounds, the dogs were on it. Every time they finished their scout run, and temporarily halted the intrusive company of mice, they went back peacably to bed. One of them insisted on sleeping under the covers curled right next to me.
I don’t judge my dogs, but I’m glad they got they idea. I was wondering when they would catch on. It’s still my job to set those traps on a warm-ish day, and get better at cleaning up the crumbs and such. My prayer is that the mice find what they need some other way, but I also know they are just following their nature to want to get their perceived needs met.
While we are on the topic of dogs, canine beings can, as I understand it, can in theory be put on a meatless diet if one is serous about ensuring their proper nutrition, whereas cats really cannot, although some say with the right supplementing you can. It’s all about Taurine, or least significantly about Taurine, as I understand it from the research my kids have done it. I have done my own research into Taurine for people and it’s kind of exciting. I could almost squeak like a mouse. Taurine has evidence for treating many neurological issues, metabolic and liver issues, cardiac issues, mitochondrial health and Taurine is an potent anti-oxidant and so much more! Our brains and hearts make a little taurine, but we do better with more! This is one reason it may be recommended by some that if you don’t eat a lot of red meat. Taurine is approved in Japan for treatment of congestive heart failure. Here’s just one of many cool articles on taurine, this one on it’s role in the health of mitochondria:
In 1985, taurine was first approved as the treatment among heart failure patients in Japan. Accumulating studies have shown that taurine supplementation also protects against pathologies associated with mitochondrial defects, such as aging, mitochondrial diseases, metabolic syndrome, cancer, cardiovascular diseases and neurological disorders. In this review, we will provide a general overview on the mitochondria biology and the consequence of mitochondrial defects in pathologies.

As a question like, “Why doesn’t everyone know about Taurine?” It may, instead of leading us toward a rabbit hole, help us to realize we’ve had mice in the house. The mice are the FDA and so on. The ones who didn’t enforce that which would have been necessary to ensure cat food isn’t contaminated with euthanasia drugs, which is the same FDA that does the same kind of thing regularly when it comes to people. It’s the lords and ladies of the Ivy Leagues and those who decide where funds go, who gets to be an influencer and so on. Most of these people are not evil. My views is that the majority are mice: are born with roles and they are hungry for power, afraid of blackmail, in need of love and desperate to stay warm while living off the resources of others. We are the dogs. It’s not our fault we didn’t know until we did. But once we do, let’s do our part, with compassion for the mice, still doing our part. I was listening to Lee Harris and Regina Meredith in their “Future Human” series and the Zs were saying through Lee Harris that Peace is getting stronger. Peace as an energy is getting stronger. Not only in us humans, but also in the fabric of the universe.
This is exciting to me!! This makes me want to dance!
Last night I painted a magickal butterfly. What do you feel when you look at it?
