Bernays became the editor of the Medical Review of Reviews, which was owned by his father, whose occupation was otherwise not medically related. In fact, he was in the grain trade. While he encouraged his son to major in agriculture, his son, like himself, chose to influence other fields beyond the field of wheat or barley - often bargaining with our lives.

Vienna is quite the place: the childhood origin of Hitler, Freud and Bernays. Whether Freud and Hitler ever met is unknown. The Freud and Bernays families intertwine most deeply indeed: Freud appears to have married officially Martha Bernays and unofficially her sister as well. Freud’s sister Anna is the mother of Edward Bernays. Her husband, Ely Bernays is the one who was in the grain trade but also owned the Medical Review of Reviews.

Bernays liked to brag about his connection with Frued, but he wasn’t just using psychoanalysis to manipulate women into thinking smoking equals empowerment - he was working for everybody from the Fluoride Industry to those promoting Eugenics through Theatre, to convincing the American people to get involved in WW1, which laid the foundation of the German pathos that made them vulnerable to the racist populism that birthed Nazi Germany - so similar to right wing populism in America today.

Bernays, the son of Anna Freud (Bernays) and Ely Bernays. Ely Bernays is known for working in the grain industry, but he also owned The Medical Review of Reviews. After studying agriculture, Edward worked at the MRR.

Although associated with making bacon and eggs popular over a light breakfast, he did a lot more than that, working everything from promoting fluoride to promoting war. Not that they are so separate, if you look at the Manhattan Project, the aluminum and steel industries and the need to make fluoride seem innocuous at a time concerns were rising.

Later, Goebbels used Bernays’work voraciously and he sought to regulate the field of public relations. According to United Fruit, one of his Bernay’s many clients in influencing world affairs, he failed at that campaign in spite of his many other successes, some of which he later came to regret.
