Chocolate Santa
A Poem inspired by the Chocolate Advent Calendar we are sharing as a family
I played with chocolate Santa
Sent him down a slide of Selenite
He skied on airways of pure delight
And danced with chocolate snowman
Who said, “Bro man,”
I want to know, man
Why you’re having so much fun!
“Well I quit the corporate ladder and decided to become mad as a chocolate Santa-hatter instead of working in an institution that made me sadder”
So you’ll haven no more laps to sit in - was creeping some of the kids out anyway
But I’ll tell you, the Spirit of Childlike wonder
Is alive and well
And reclaiming the Joy of Advent
Makes it fun to tell
That merry-making
Doesn’t have to be fancy or complicated
Our Innocent
Child-like spirit doesn’t need to be abandoned
Or abrogated
Let’s choose to withdraw our approval from that which co-opts our consent
And then we can choose not to get bent
I may melt back into nothing
But I’ll be dancing until then
And sliding on selenite
And showing that the loving black womb of no-thing is the only darkness
On which a life is worth being spent
